Rea and Tongling Jingda build plant in Changshu, China

Tongling Jingda of the Peoples Republic of China, and Rea Magnet Wire Inc., announce the establishment of a joint venture in the Chinese Province of Jiangsu in Changshu City. It is centrally located to the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, and Wuxi.

Ground breaking ceremonies will take place on July 7th of this year with production targeted for the 3rd quarter of 2008.

With an estimated annual capacity of 20,000 tons, the joint venture will produce specialty large round and shaped conductors to be insulated with film and/or paper wrapped materials (including CTC) for the large motor, generator, and transformer industries.

Algonquin Industries, a division of Rea and a globally recognized wire provider to the transformer industry, will be the primary engineering and technical resource for the project.

Tongling Jingda and Rea are the largest magnet wire producer(s) in China with five manufacturing locations. Tongling Jingda is the 4th largest magnet wire producer in the world. Rea is the largest magnet wire producer in North America and second largest in the world.
