Congratulations to Ken Vandenberghe, OTR/L, CEES, CIPS, MBA, Corporate Health & Safety Manager for Rea Magnet Wire Company. Ken has been named Safety Professional of the Year for 2009 by J.J. Keller Online*. This is the second year that he has won this award; the first being in 2005. This also makes Ken the first multiple winner of this national award. Ken was chosen out of a pool of 19,000 safety professionals. In addition to the above awards, Ken was featured on the 2007 cover of ADVANCE magazine for occupational therapy and has published two other articles in leading health and safety magazines including EHS Today (July 2009) and Occupational Hazards(2009). Ken was also instrumental in Rea being named one of the Top 10 Safest Companies in America during 2007 from Occupational Hazard magazine and the Las Cruces plant in receiving Industry Week’s Best Plant Award during 2008. Since joining Rea in 2003, Ken has completed his MBA, has received his Lean Black Belt Six Sigma certification, and is a Certified Infrastructure Preparedness Specialist (through the Department of Homeland Security).
